Earn the AWS Competency your buyers recognize.

An AWS Competency tells enterprise buyers and AWS sellers that AWS has reviewed your results in a specific industry or use case. AWS describes the review as rigorous: partners complete technical assessments that include reviews of multiple customer success examples.

We help software companies choose the competency that fits, build the customer evidence AWS reviewers look for, and manage the submission through to a decision. Your engineers own the technical validation, and we prepare everything around it.

What we deliver

Competency selection

We map AWS's competency catalog against your product, customers and sales motion, then rank the options by fit, effort and the benefits each one opens up.

Readiness gap analysis

We check your solution and customer evidence against the competency's validation checklist, so you know what's missing before anyone writes a submission.

Customer case studies

We draft or rework your customer stories to meet AWS's requirements, then audit each one before it goes in.

Submission management

We prepare the self-assessment narrative, work with your AWS Partner Development Manager, and handle reviewer questions until AWS makes its decision.

Try it

Readiness check: six questions on your FTR, customer evidence, named references, case studies, an owner for the submission and your AWS Partner Development Manager.

How an engagement runs

  1. Target: Pick the competency, confirm eligibility with your AWS contacts, and agree a plan with owners and dates.
  2. Build the evidence: Select the customer examples, write or fix the case studies, and close the gaps from the analysis.
  3. Submit and respond: File through AWS Partner Central, answer reviewer questions, and keep the submission moving.

Common questions

What is an AWS Competency?
An AWS Competency is an AWS Specialization that validates partners in a specific industry, use case or workload. AWS reviews multiple customer success examples as part of the process, and approved partners get an AWS Partner badge and priority placement in AWS Partner Solutions Finder.
What does an AWS Competency unlock?
AWS lists AWS Partner badges, priority placement in Partner Solutions Finder, an improved partner co-sell score and direct access to AWS sales teams, plus Marketing Development Funds and, for eligible workloads, Migration Acceleration Program funding. AWS still decides how it engages on each opportunity.
How long does an AWS Competency take?
It depends on your customer evidence and how ready your solution is. With our help, Docebo took two competency submissions from gap analysis to submission in 12 weeks.
Do software companies need an FTR first?
Yes. An approved Foundational Technical Review is what makes a software company's solution eligible for AWS Specializations, including Competencies. Our FTR guide covers how to pass it.
Do you do the technical work?
Your engineers own the technical validation and the architecture answers. We prepare the strategy, the customer evidence, the case studies and the submission around them, and manage the process with AWS.
Can we still apply for a Service Delivery or Service Ready Specialization?
AWS has closed new applications for both and will deprecate them on June 1, 2027. Partners that hold one should plan a move to an AWS Competency or the MSP program.
Can we buy this through AWS Marketplace?
Yes. Our AWS Competency Readiness and Validation Service is available as a private offer on AWS Marketplace, so you can pay through your AWS bill.
